Transcription: To test how well booster seats work, Consumer Reports crashed them at 30 miles per hour. Booster seats are used to raise the child several inches from the seat of the car. As tester Linda Green explains, they help the seat belt do its job. Here the booster seat boosts the child so the shoulder and lap belt fit properly so the child is restrained in the collision. All the booster seats tested also come with shields of one type or another. When you use a shield, you don't use the seat belt to restrain the child.
